Hey guys, Joe Delfgauw here, and I have been a Cape Coral resident since 2021.
I bought a house down here after my dad passed away because I wanted to be closer to my mom. At first, Cape Coral was a place I owned a house.
Now it is home and I’ll tell you why.
My wife, Jennifer and I are originally from Michigan, and I have lived in a lot of different places. But Cape Coral is the first place where my wife and I really feel like we want to stay permanently.
The weather.
The water.
The people.
The lifestyle.
There is just something about this area.
For the first few years, we used the house part-time and rented it out as an Airbnb when we were not using it. Technically, it was my primary residence, but we rented it out about five months out of the year.
In 2021 and 2022, it did pretty well.
Then Hurricane Ian happened.
Like everyone in Cape Coral, we saw how bad it was. Homes were damaged. People were displaced. Contractors, cleanup crews, and workers came into the area trying to help rebuild.
During that time, we had a construction company rent the house for a crew of about 14 guys.
I have mixed feelings about making money during that time, because nobody wants to profit from a tragedy. But we did not buy the house for that reason.
The way I looked at it, we gave 14 workers a place to sleep under one roof when hotel rooms were almost impossible to find. The owner of that company still thanks me because it saved him a lot of money compared to trying to get separate rooms for everyone.
That whole experience made me look at Cape Coral differently.
It was not just a place where I had a property anymore.
It was quickly becoming home.
The Lawn Care Problem I Kept Running Into
Once I started spending more time in Cape Coral, I ran into a problem that a lot of homeowners here probably understand.
Lawn care.
For the first couple of years I was down here, I went through four different lawn care companies.
I could not keep one.
Some did not show up and some disappeared.
Some were hard to communicate with.
Others started strong and then fell off.
And honestly, I was not even looking for the cheapest company.
I just wanted somebody reliable.
Somebody who would answer the phone when I called or at least returned my call.
Someone who would show up.
Somebody who would do what they said they were going to do.
Somebody who treated the property like it mattered.
That should not be too much to ask but apparently, it was harder to find than I expected. And because I’m not the type of person to complain a problem away, I started to problem solve.
Why I Started Cape Coral Lawn Care
After dealing with that enough times, I finally said to myself:
“Joe, you are an entrepreneur. You know how to build websites. You know how to generate business and you know how to organize people. Why don’t you just start a lawn care company?”
So that is what I did.
I started Cape Coral Lawn Care because I saw a real need.
Not for another random lawn guy or another company that takes on too many customers and then stops answering the phone.
Not for another service where the homeowner has to chase people down.
I wanted to build a lawn care company around the stuff that should be obvious:
Show up.
Communicate.
Do good work.
Be reliable.
And treat people’s properties with respect.
Simple.
I hired my first four employees and since then, we have added more help, acquired more equipment, are acquiring property and continue building the company the way it should be built.
And because I live here, this matters to me.
Cape Coral Lawn Care is not just some business name on a website.
This is connected to my neighborhood.
My home, family, and community.
What I Want Cape Coral Lawn Care to Stand For
I know what it feels like to be a homeowner trying to find someone dependable.
I know what it feels like when people do not show up.
And I know what it feels like when you just want your property handled without having to chase people down.
That is why I started Cape Coral Lawn Care.
Cape Coral is growing like crazy, and people need service companies that actually show up.
Whether someone lives here full-time, owns a second home, rents out a property, or just needs help keeping their yard maintained, they deserve a company that takes the job seriously.
We are not trying to be the biggest lawn care company in Cape Coral overnight.
We are trying to be one of the most reliable.
Because at the end of the day, lawn care is not complicated.
People want their yard to look good.
People want their property taken care of.
They want someone to answer the phone.
They want someone to show up when they say they will.
And they want to feel like the company they hired actually cares.
That is the standard we are trying to build.
